OBI0/AKPOR LG CHAIRMAN COMMISSIONS REVITALISED PRIMARY HEALTH CARE CENTRE IN RUMUAGHOLU

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has commissioned the revitalized and renovated Primary Health Care Centre in Rumuagholu, rehabilitated by the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board.
The commissioning ceremony, which attracted government officials, health professionals, traditional rulers and community stakeholders, marked another milestone in efforts aimed at strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery across Rivers State.
Speaking during the event the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA,Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu expressed delight over the transformation of the health facility and commended the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board for its intervention in the community.
The council chairman urged the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure that it is properly maintained for the benefit of all residents irrespective of political affiliation.
Hon. Gift Worlu lamented the increasing division in many communities caused by politics and chieftaincy disputes, stressing that such divisions hinder development and peaceful coexistence.
The Obio/Akpor Chairman also reflected on leadership and public service, noting that occupying public office is a privilege and responsibility to serve humanity.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Chituru Adele, described the revitalization of the Rumuagholu Primary Health Care Centre as part of the state government’s commitment to improving access to quality and affordable healthcare services at the grassroots.
Dr. Adele noted that the Board remains committed to strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure, improving maternal and child healthcare services and ensuring that residents receive quality medical attention in conducive environments.
Also speaking, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Wachukwu Vincent, said the renovation of the health centre aligns with the state government’s broader healthcare development agenda aimed at bringing quality healthcare closer to the people.
Dr. Vincent emphasized that primary healthcare remains the foundation of an effective healthcare system, adding that accessible healthcare facilities would significantly reduce preventable diseases and improve the overall wellbeing of citizens.
He aslo encouraged health personnel to maintain high standards in patient care, sanitation and service delivery.
The event featured the formal commissioning of the facility, inspection of the renovated structures and goodwill messages from stakeholders and community representatives.
